So Happy to be Back!

Hello friends,

I’m so excited to share the news that Saturday, June 20, Daisy’s will be open! (Just writing that sentence feels so amazing.) When we first shut our doors, I told my staff to enjoy this little break and before you know it we’d be back to our hustle and bustle. Well, twelve weeks later we are coming back, but with a little less hustle and bustle than anticipated. I have missed you all so much, and even seeing you from a glimpse outside the door as you pick up curbside, or standing in line at Tucker’s, just makes me so happy. If there is one thing this time has taught me, it’s that I am truly a retailer. Wrapping your thoughtfully-chosen gifts, putting together engaging displays, and even figuring out how to organize the cash wrap are just the icing on the cake of sharing beautiful things with the people who come in each day. As much as I am looking forward to opening my doors, I am being very careful to do so in the safest way possible. I also want to recognize that there are many different levels of comfort about coming back out into the world. Daisy’s has created a variety of options to make shopping with us work for you.

  1. We will be open 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 7 days a week.
  2. Private appointments can be made between 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. or 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. any day of the week. Appointment slots are either 25 or 45 minutes. Just call or text 510-522-6443, or email concierge@daisysmercantile.com and we will schedule your visit.
  3. Appointments can be for 1-6 people. You can choose to have a completely private appointment, where it will just be you and Barbara; semi-private, where one other shopper might sign up for the same time-slot, but would remain socially distanced from you; or a small group of friends (your social bubble). We will clean and sanitize between time-slots, before the next appointment begins.
  4. Curbside pickup is still an easy option. Just text us at 510-522-6443 and we can send you pictures of gift options, or schedule a facetime if you prefer.
  5. Local delivery has become quite popular and will stay an option for Daisy’s forever. We deliver every afternoon between 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. to Oakland, Alameda, Bay Farm, and San Leandro.
  6. Goodie bag shopping is our newest offering! Tell us what you are looking for and we will put together a bag of goodies and deliver it to you. Pick what works for you, and 72 hours later we will pick up anything you don’t want.
  7. Shipping is available via USPS flat rate. We are happy to ship the order to you if that is what is best for you.

Now that we have given you options on ways to get your Daisy’s fix, let’s chat a bit about what you can expect. You’ll see some fun new changes in the store, and a few projects we are working furiously to finish. The Daisy’s I envisioned when we bought the building is really starting to come to life. I can’t wait for you to see. That being said, of course safety is our first concern. We have the following procedures in place to make sure we all stay safe…

  1. First and foremost, our employees are not coming to work if they are ill in any way, even if it is a headache or allergies. We are taking care of them. We ask that you also do not come in if you have any signs of any illness.
  2. It should go without saying: masks, masks, masks. We will have masks on and no one will be allowed in the shop without one. Masks are also required for curbside pickup.
  3. We will only allow a maximum of six customers during regular business hours. We will have a sign at the door if we are at capacity, and there will be marked spaces to wait.
  4. There are freshly-cleaned shopping baskets at the door as well as hand sanitizing stations throughout the store. Please feel free to use a basket as all are sanitized before we put them back out.
  5. As you are shopping please keep 6 feet of social distance from other customers and please stand in the marked area as you wait to check out.
  6. Please keep your children with you at all times while you are shopping.
  7. If you would like to try on clothes we ask that you leave anything you are not purchasing in the dressing room. We will then isolate it in the back for 24 hours and steam it completely before it goes back out on the sales floor.
  8. When you walk up to the register, there is hand sanitizer and a place for your items. We have an acrylic partition like you see at the essential stores you have been using. We are trying to use contactless payments (such as tapping your chip card or Apple Pay) as much as possible, plus we have a slew of stylus pens at the counter and will sanitize each one before it is used again. We will ring you up and bag your purchases in our bags. If you would like something wrapped we will bring it to the gift wrap room and put the wrapped gifts in a bag. We ask that you kindly let the person in the gift wrap room work alone as there is no way to social distance in there.

I have so many things I want to share, and will be in touch soon with lots of happy news. We look forward to being here for you when you need us during this adjustment to our new normal. There are so many parts of this that we will (eventually) gladly be leaving behind, but so much to look forward to as we see the possibility of living life with a little more intention.

Love,

Barbara & Staff
