How did you start working at Daisy’s?
“I was looking for a new job and I found the job post, and my mom has actually always loved Daisy’s so I just went for it.”
What is your favorite part of the job?
“My favorite part of the job is just walking in, immersing yourself in the atmosphere. It feels like you’re in a whole new little world. It helps because I love basically everything in the store from the candles to the jewelry to the clothing. Even to the back [of the store], like how it’s set up with the table, even the baby section. Everything just makes you feel like you’re a part of something.”
What does a typical day at Daisy’s look like for you?
“So everyday at Daisy’s I check what I have to do for that day. Either I’m going to be pricing some items or I’m going to help with organizing either a rack or like a certain section that I’m going to be designated for the day. If not, I’m helping customers, I’m gift wrapping.”
What advice do you have for people looking to go into the retail business?
“Advice I have for people going into the retail business would be keep an open mind. You’re never going to always get your way, but if you keep an open mind you’ll get more opportunities along the way. Don’t think of it as retail because retail has that stigma around it of being like a horrendous job, but you’ll find that it’ll be fun.”
Why did you choose the Voluspa candle as your favorite Daisy’s item?
“I’ve always loved candles and even more so now than before. Their packaging is great. I’m the type of person to actually empty out a candle once I’m done using it, so I find it has a multi-purpose. I can put my jewelry in it, which I also love to get from Daisy’s, I love the brands we carry. It’s also just a pretty little decoration.”
Do you have a favorite scent of Voluspa candles?
“My favorite scent is always going to be Saijo Persimmon, it’s everything to me, I love that one!”
What do you want to be when you grow up?
“When I grow up I want to be an international lawyer.”
What is your favorite place you’ve ever visited and why?
“My favorite place I’ve ever visited would be this place called Collioure in France. It’s on the west coast, near the border of France and Spain. It’s just a beautiful, picturesque city by the water and it’s lovely.”
What is your favorite song?
“Honestly, I’m open to any type of music as long as it’s good and has a beat. I’m more of a dancer myself.”
What kind of dance do you do?
“I’m really into Latin dance, like salsa inspired right now, so very Caribbean, very tropical, that’s my mood right now. I’m also from [the Bay Area] so definitely hip hop, I used to break. It’s just so fun!”
What advice would you give to your younger self?
“You don’t know what’s going to come your way so keep an open mind and go with the flow. And someone gave me this advice when I was a junior in high school, which was a good turning point in my life and what I want to do in my life, so it was ‘Leave some room for some magic.'”
